DIY Wall Art: View from the Air

I’ve been trying to figure out what to hang in our bedroom and didn’t have something as wide as I’d like. Instead of one piece, I decided to go with a gallery of four photos I took from an airplane window. For DIY wall art, it turned out to be super easy and inexpensive (thanks to Christmas Tree Shop frames).

DIY Tree Stump Side Tables

I’m loving these DIY tree stump tables, especially the painted birch stump–the brightly colored top brings a cheerful summer spin to the the Christmasy bark–and the totem pole-inspired table paired with the polished black-and-white arm chairs.

Adventures in Sewing

My all-time favorite shirt had seen better days. A J Crew chambray button-down, it was the kind of shirt that I could wear at the office and the beach and everywhere in between–and I did. So much so that I got holes on both sleeves.

So this morning I tried my first foray into sewing in years. And it went alright! (Just don’t look too closely under the left arm hole.) Voila–my new sleeveless chambray shirt:

Browsing Brimfield Fair

This weekend, I went out to the Brimfield Antique Fair for some antiquing, inspiration-hunting and people-watching. It was fabulous. We saw everything from old wagon wheels to gorgeously distressed dressers to heirloom-worthy silver (and a good share of junk — but, hey, that’s half the fun).

Loved this chipping teal paint.

How cool would this old marquee sign look in a loft apartment?

No big deal, just some vintage Louis Vuitton brief cases and trunks.

A couple tips if you’re considering going to the next Brimfield fair in September. Measure your car trunk if you’re looking to buy any furniture so you’ll know your max dimensions. Bring a tape measure with you to the fair. Most dealers only don’t accept cards, so bring cash in small bills. Get ready for walking! Wear comfy shoes and a hat if it’s sunny.

More Brimfield goodness to come!
