Happy Friday!

Cheers to the end of a busy work week and the start of the weekend! I’m bringing my   weekender bag to the office with me and heading right to the beach right after work.  Here’s a delicious-looking concoction from The Kitchn to celebrate:

Easy Summer Appetizers: Strawberry & Nectarine Crostini

This recipe for an easy summer appetizer is a combo of two Pinterest finds I’ve been wanting to try: nectarine + burrata bites from foodiecrush and strawberry bruschetta from The Effortless Chic. It only took about 25 minutes to put together (thanks to Whole Foods pre-made crostini) and was delicious!

The best part of this appetizer recipe is that it can be prepared at home and served cold, and the fresh fruits make it bright and summery.

Ingredients:
Crostini (I used Whole Foods’ pre-made kind, but you could make your own)
Goat cheese
Fresh strawberries
Fresh nectarines
Lemon juice
Honey
Torn basil
Balsamic vinegar

Instructions:

1. Mix together goat cheese and honey and spread over crostini. Pair up crostini into little sandwiches and package in a container.

2. Chop strawberries and nectarines into small pieces and package in their own containers.

3. Mix basil, a drop of honey and a big squeeze of lemon juice into each fruit container.

4. Pack up the containers, a serving platter and a bottle of balsamic vinegar and head out! Putting everything together at the party is quick and easy.

Summer Scape: Table Settings Idea

I love classic shades of blue and white in the summer. This table setting is all about a beachy palette of blues, whites and sandy tans, with a few elegant but not stuffy patterns thrown into the mix. It’s the kind of tablescape that would work for take-out lobster rolls or a homemade masterpiece (if you’re feeling motivated!). I’d love to set this table for a dinner on the Cape this summer.

Great Gatsby Cocktail: Lavender French 75

Thanks to the all-star cast, gorgeous wardrobe, and seriously cool trailers, I’ve been anticipating Baz Luhrmann’s decadent Great Gatsby for months now. And after re-reading the classic (with little handwritten notes in the margins no less), I’m even more excited. I bought tickets for Saturday night and am starting off the weekend by whipping up a prohibition-era favorite: the French 75 with a lavender twist. This recipe and beautiful photography comes from Love & Lemons.
